About
Paul lives with his wife and two daughters in Carrboro, NC. He was drawn to the field of palliative care as it seemed to be the field that best fit with his original motivations to enter the field of medicine – to help patients live their best lives. He enjoys getting to know his patients and their families, learning about their goals and values, and helping them achieve their highest quality of life possible. He enjoys traveling, hiking, camping, running, reading, and spending quality time with his family and friends. Dr. Zimmerman splits his clinical time between the adult palliative care consult service at UNC Hospital and UNC’s inpatient hospice unit in Pittsboro, NC. He is a clinician educator and spends his non-clinical time creating educational curricula and teaching on palliative care topics.
