Katie Murray is a current research technician working under Natalie Bowman on research surrounding COVID prevalence in certain farming/meat packing populations throughout North Carolina as well as Zika/Chagas prevalence throughout various Latin American countries such as Peru, Bolivia, and Nicaragua. Katie graduated from Texas State University in 2016 with a BS in microbiology and a minor in biochemistry. During her undergraduate years, Katie worked as a immunology lab instructor, performed microbial research involving bacterial quorum sensing, and acted as a quadriplegic caregiver. She has the hopes of attending medical school within the next few years and ultimately practicing in lower and middle income countries throughout Africa. Outside of science, Katie’s interests include working out, hiking, traveling, and learning about different cultures/history throughout the world.
