About
I grew up on the island of New Providence in The Bahamas just a 5 minute walk from the beach! I received my medical training from the University of the West Indies in Mona, residency at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in the South Bronx in Internal medicine. I chose UNC ID for fellowship because it seemed to be one of the few spots that still was doing great work globally, the Gillings School of Public health was one of the top MPH programs in the nation and I knew that I wanted to possibly pursue this degree, and the faculty that I interviewed with was AHMAZING! For fun I love being outside – a walk is my favourite thing to do at the end of the day, hanging with my friends here and that’s usually while eating or coming together for fellowship or a Bible study.
Fellowship Project(s): I’m focusing now on a few things: completing my Prev med residency (I combined this with ID starting my 2nd year here), completing my MPH, specifically the MPH paper with a focus on Breast cancer screening in the MACS/WIHS Cohort, and learning about humanitarian health work through the UNC Global Humanitarian Health Internship.
