About
Dr. Ford is interested in clinical and translational research in the area of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH). He is currently and historically involved in numerous multicenter clinical trials investigating therapies for PAH, as well as investigator initiated studies examining the treatment of PAH in the setting of sarcoidosis, cirrhosis, and interstitial lung disease (pulmonary fibrosis). He has also investigated the role of inflammatory and procoagulant biomarkers in the pathogenesis and clinical manifestations of PAH, as well as how various hemodynamic metrics and the practices surrounding their acquisition inform PAH diagnosis and outcomes. Dr. Ford is involved in numerous leadership initiatives in the field of pulmonary vascular disease, including being the past national chair of the center review committee for the Pulmonary Hypertension Care Centers accreditation process (2020-2022). He was also recently named chair of the task force on Patient Perspectives for the upcoming 7th World Symposium on Pulmonary Hypertension. He has mentored a number of fellows that have subsequently gone on to academic and scientific positions in pulmonary hypertension.
