About
My lab studies host defense mechanisms in respiratory infections, with a focus on macrophage signaling pathways in viral infections. We use a combination of mouse genetics, cell biology, and protein biochemistry to understand how macrophages contribute to both pathogen control and tissue damage. We perform translation research using human samples from ICU patients with a focus on ARDS. As a clinician, I attend in the medical ICU and pulmonary fellows’ clinic. I also work closely with the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center as the critical care supervisor for our CAR-T trials and through collaborations with several cancer labs.
