About

I am a board-certified internist and rheumatologist with a Masters in Clinical Research in Epidemiology. I spend one day per week in clinic, divided between general rheumatology and musculoskeletal ultrasound, and am involved in fellow education and mentoring. My research is focused on a variety of aspects of imaging in osteoarthritis (OA), including the contribution of bone shape to OA risk, novel methodologies for analysis of large and complex datasets including machine learning, and assessment of whole-body burden of OA. I am co-PI of the Johnston County OA Project, a 30-year community-based prospective cohort of OA, multiple chronic conditions, pain and disability in Black and White men and women and its new enrollment phase, the Johnston County Health Study. I am Director of the Phenotyping and Precision Medicine Resource Core of the UNC Core Center for Clinical Research (CCCR).
