Dr. Marcia Hobbs received the Freshman Basic Science Teaching Award for 2010 at the Annual Whitehead Lecture and Awards Ceremony on Wed., Aug 18. The award reflects the votes of the first year medical school class at UNC. Dr. Hobbs is co-course director (with Dr. de Silva ) for the Host Defense and Microbial Pathogens course given in the spring .
Dr. Hobbs obtained her Ph.D in this department in 1993 . She has a joint appointment in the department and a primary appointment as research professor in the department of medicine. Dr. Hobbs has had a longstanding research interest in sexually transmitted diseases.
