January 16, 2024: Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease

Student Speaker: Kyle Pellegrino
The student talk will focus on the epidemiology of Alzheimer’s disease (AD), history of AD, and general symptoms.
Faculty Speaker: Gwenn Garden, MD, PhD
The faculty talk will discuss up-to-date concepts of assessing and modifying dementia risk, diagnosing Alzheimer’s Disease and current Alzheimer’s treatment options.

February 20, 2024: Outdoor Health and Allergies

Student Speaker: Camille Morgan
The student talk will focus on tick bites, Lyme disease, and general outdoor health.
Faculty Speaker: Scott Commins, MD, PhD
The faculty talk will discuss assessing and testing for allergies, alpha-gal syndrome (“red meat allergy”), and its relation to tick bites.

March 19, 2024: Weight Loss and Diabetes

Student Speaker: Victor Madormo
The student talk will discuss the prevalence of diabetes, its significance, and common diagnostic tools.
Faculty Speaker: Klara Klein, MD, PhD
The faculty talk will discuss the physiology of diabetes and obesity, diabetes and weight loss treatments, and current research in the field.
