In a Developmental Cell paper, Anton lab shows that APC-regulated microtubule severing is necessary for appropriate patterns of neuronal migration and placement in the developing brain.

Coordinated pattern of interneuron and projection neuron migration is a process fundamental to the formation of cortical neuronal circuitry. In a Developmental Cell paper, they show that APC-regulated microtubule severing, via p60-katanin, promotes branching intensive interneuron migration, but not glial-guided radial migration of projection neurons. This study provides new perspectives on why human mutations in APC and KATANIN cause brain malformations.
