Spencer Smith, PhD, assistant professor of cell biology and physiology and member of the UNC Neuroscience Center, was featured on North Carolina Now, a nightly program on UNC TV.
In the segment, Smith, his wife Ikuko Smith, PhD, and Jeff Stirman, PhD, explain how they created their own microscope to study the brain like never before in support of the NIH BRAIN Initiative. Their goal: to understand how the brain works to lay the groundwork for better treatments for people with neurological disorders and neurodegenerative diseases.
