In Memoriam: Wendy R. Brewster, MD, PhD
Wendy R. Brewster, MD, PhD, a compassionate clinician-scientist who focused her career on caring for women with gynecologic cancer and studying at-risk populations and the disparate mechanisms leading to poor outcomes in endometrial, ovarian and cervical cancers, died of pancreatic cancer on July 24.
UNC HORIZONS PROGRAM
The UNC Horizons Program is a substance use disorder treatment program for pregnant and/or parenting women and their children, including those whose lives have been touched by abuse and violence. Our trauma-informed model of care focuses on both the mother and the child to heal the whole family and create systems of hope and renewal.
DIVISIONS & SPECIALTY SERVICES
Complex Family Planning
Providing a full range of family planning services including all aspects of contraceptive and pregnancy options from experts in reproductive health care for women.
General Obstetrics and Gynecology
Provides general obstetric and gynecologic services including full screening and preventative care for women across their lifespan – adolescence, pregnancy, the reproductive years, as well as menopause and the older woman.
Gynecologic Oncology
The care of women with pre-invasive (benign and in-situ) and invasive (malignant) gynecologic cancers.
Maternal-Fetal Medicine
Obstetrical care for women with pregnancies that are complicated by maternal disease, such as diabetes or hypertension, or any problem with the fetus, such as congenital abnormalities.
Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery
Provides expertise in the evaluation and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction, including urinary tract, vaginal and colorectal dysfunction, pelvic organ prolapse, and complex benign conditions involving the pelvic organs and musculature, including fistulas and congenital anomalies.
Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery
Performs gynecologic surgeries for benign disease (non-cancerous), with advanced expertise in operative laparoscopy, including robotic assisted gynecologic laparoscopy.
UNC Fertility
Care for the evaluation and treatment of disorders relating to fertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, menopause, and reproductive endocrine abnormalities such as androgen excess and hormone deficiency syndromes.
UNC Horizons Program

UNC Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
Care for the evaluation and treatment of disorders relating to fertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, menopause, and reproductive endocrine abnormalities such as androgen excess and hormone deficiency syndromes.
Midwifery
Provides wide range of services including first gynecological exams, obstetrical care, labor and delivery, contraception, perimenopause and women’s preventative health care.

UNC Global Women’s Health (GWH) is a unique group of clinicians, researchers and public health professionals working to improve the health of women in the world’s poorest countries.
