Dr. Katherine Tucker joined UNC as an Assistant Professor in the Gynecologic Oncology Division in 2020. Since joining the faculty, she has been actively engaged in wellness initiatives, both locally and nationally. Within the gynecologic oncology division, Dr. Tucker has organized regular in-person wellness gatherings for faculty, fellows, and staff, which were well attended by division members and their families.

Utilizing modules developed by the SGO (Society of Gynecologic Oncology), she also integrated a wellness curriculum into the fellow lecture series and has led discussions around these topics several times per year. These sessions cover essential subjects such as sleep, physical activity, financial health, coaching, and substance abuse.

On a national level, Dr. Tucker serves as a member of the Wellness Committee for the SGO. For the past two years, she has co-chaired the Annual Meetings sub-group, contributing to the integration of wellness practices into national meetings. This role has provided her with opportunities to collaborate with wellness innovators and establish connections with faculty from other institutions working to enhance wellness initiatives.

Vice Chair of Faculty Development and Wellness, Dr. Stringer, believes Dr. Tucker’s experience will grow the department, “I am thrilled to partner with Kat in this new role, which reflects our department’s commitment to wellness.”

Dr. Tucker is enthusiastic about her role as the Associate Vice Chair of Wellness and is committed to exploring further opportunities to enhance wellness initiatives within our department.
