Dr. Bae-Jump Receiving Award at Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO)
UNC OB/GYN Faculty in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology received national recognition and research support at the 2026 Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) Annual Meeting on Women’s Cancer that was held in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
 
Dr. Victoria Bae-Jump was awarded the SGO Legacy of Impact Award in recognition of her sustained research contributions to gynecologic cancer care. She has been named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor and Exceptional Woman in Medicine from 2019 through 2026. 
 

In addition, three research grants were announced at the meeting for Drs. Olivia Lara, Ben Albright and Miller Singleton.

Dr. Bae-Jump is the leader of the UNC Lineberger Endometrial Cancer Center of Excellence, medical director of clinical operations at the UNC Lineberger Clinical Trials Office and director of gynecologic oncology translational research within her division. She leads the UNC Lineberger Gynecologic Oncology Clinical Trials Pod, directs a longstanding NIH-funded translational laboratory and serves as Co-Principal Investigator for the UNC Cancer Health Disparity SPORE in Endometrial Cancer (alongside Dr. Hazel Nichols, Epidemiology). She recently served as co-chair of the National Cancer Institute Gynecologic Cancers Steering Committee Uterine Task Force. Her research focuses on obesity, metabolism, the microbiome and the development of endometrial and ovarian cancers, including leadership of the Carolina Endometrial Cancer Study. In addition to her own research, Dr. Bae-Jump has mentored UNC undergrad and medical students, OBGYN residents and Gyn Onc fellows in gynecologic cancer researcher making her reach and impact far and wide.
