Why Obstetrics and Gynecology?
Early in my medical education, I was intrigued by the biological processes unique to women – from menstruation to pregnancy to menopause – a symphony of complexity that defines half of humanity. Through several pivotal experiences in low-resource settings, where I interacted with women from diverse cultures and backgrounds, I began to understand the profound inequities affecting women’s health on a global scale. This convergence of my scientific fascination and social consciousness has inspired me to pursue a career as an OBGYN. In this role, I find myself at the forefront of ushering in life and championing the silent, resilient strength of women worldwide.
Why UNC?
The patients, the people, the place. UNC’s commitment to comprehensive patient care, research, and education resonates with my passion for advancing healthcare equity, forming an ideal platform for me to leverage my expertise and achieve meaningful change. Moreover, the dedication of UNC’s Global Women’s Health to service and academic excellence aligns perfectly with my ambitions, providing robust support and mentorship in my pursuit to measurably improve the health of women living in the least-resourced settings.
