Personal Biography:

Dr. Lauren Schiff is originally from the Boston area and completed medical school at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, residency in OBGYN at Boston Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, and fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit Michigan.

Dr. Schiff joined the faculty in the Division of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic in the Department of OBGYN at UNC Chapel Hill in 2014 and since that time has held multiple operational and quality hospital leadership positions, focused on improving interprofessional team-building and operational and clinical quality improvement. She has served as the director of Gynecology, the Director of Surgical Services at UNC Hillsborough Hospital and Director of UNC OBGYN Ambulatory Services. She currently serves as the Associate Chief Medical Officer of Quality and Safety for UNC Medical Center.

In addition to these administrative roles, she actively engaged in patient care and teaching as a clinician and surgeon and is dedicated to caring for women with fibroids, endometriosis, complex benign gynecologic surgical conditions, and pelvic pain disorders. She is a surgical expert in robotic surgery and surgery for women with elevated BMI or obesity, severe endometriosis, complex surgical history, and enlarged fibroids. She has a particular expertise in management of hormonally-mediated mood disorders including premenstrual-dysphoric disorder (PMDD) and menopause-related mood changes including those that are surgically induced.
