Why Obstetrics and Gynecology?

I worked as a medical assistant in OB/GYN before medical school and fell in love with the patient population and clinical diversity of the field. In medical school, I found that I really enjoyed the OR and the hustle of labor and delivery. I also became interested in the overlap of addiction medicine and OB/GYN, and hope to continue to explore that interest moving forward.

Why UNC?

UNC had the balance I was looking for: I was inspired by the work happening here– the Horizons Model for patients who use drugs, HIV research, and faculty dedicated to working with patients who are incarcerated all aligned with my clinical interests. At the same time, the people I met were kind and showed their humanity to me during interviews. I didn’t have to force my laughter at the social and saw how the residents cared for one another. I felt like these people could be my friends, support structure, and mentors while also pushing me to be the best version of my OB/GYN-self. So far, all of these impressions have rang true. I am so grateful to be here!
