Why Obstetrics and Gynecology?
Obstetrics and Gynecology is a unique specialty which is what attracted me to it. It is both a surgical specialty with primary care components and allows for great continuity of care with patients. To me, pregnancy is fascinating and requires such in-depth knowledge of multiple different specialties as well as complex physiology. This field also helps care for a uniquely important, and sometimes vulnerable, patient population and is a great field to improve upon high-quality research and policy efforts.
Why UNC?
UNC is known for its high quality clinical care as well as vast academic and research endeavors. It also holds one of the best public health schools in the country. Therefore, it was an easy choice to come here to further my learning through the MSCR program, research skills, and to practice evidence-based medicine with great supports.
