David Berkoff, MD, Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Vice Chair of Clinical Operations in the Department of Orthopaedics at UNC School of Medicine, has been selected for the 2026 ACC Academic Leaders Network. Dr. Berkoff is one of five faculty members from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill chosen for this competitive leadership development program. He is notably the only participant representing the School of Medicine in the 2026 cohort.
A leader in nonoperative sports and musculoskeletal medicine, Dr. Berkoff serves as division chief of Nonoperative Sports and Musculoskeletal Medicine and director of the UNC Sports Medicine Institute. His selection for the ACC Academic Leaders Network recognizes his growing impact within academic medicine and provides an opportunity to further develop his leadership skills as an emerging leader at Carolina.
