Orthopaedic Grand Rounds – Sharpening Your Scalpel: What Science and Sociology Tells us About How We Operate

Dr. Michael G. Vitale is a world-renowned specialist in the non-operative and operative treatment of complex pediatric scoliosis and spinal disorders. His surgical practice leverages innovative treatments for younger children with scoliosis, and he has a special interest in the conservative management of scoliosis. He leads a unique team of multidisciplinary spine specialists focused non-operative care and prevention of curve progression.
In addition to his clinical practice Dr. Vitale is a prolific researcher, has authored almost 200 peer-reviewed publications, and lectures around the world on topics related to pediatric spine surgery and patient safety. As a leader in the national orthopedics community, Dr. Vitale has Chaired the International Pediatric Orthopaedic Society, led multiple committees in the Scoliosis Research Society, and currently serves as president of the Children’s Spine Study Group. In 2020, Dr. Vitale will assume the role of President of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America.
Dr. Vitale is consistently recognized as one America’s Top Doctors by Castle Connolly, and has been the named among the top 50 physicians providing scoliosis care in the United States by Becker’s Spine Review.
