Assistant Professor, Outpatient Oncology Palliative Care, Inpatient Palliative Care Consult Service

Ashley Allen is a proud Oregonian (and will find any reason she can to bring up the PNW casually in conversation) and now a proud NC transplant! She has moved around the country for various parts of her training (undergraduate degree at the University of San Diego, a Master of Science in Public Health at UNC, her MD at Mayo Medical School). She completed an Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency at the University of Michigan and then returned to North Carolina for a fellowship in Hospice & Palliative Medicine at UNC.

She has a strong clinical interest/focus in the adolescent and young adult (AYA) oncology population and also does work on the intersection of palliative care and sickle cell disease. After spending a little more than three years at “the wrong shade of blue” she is absolutely THRILLED to be coming home! Outside of work, you can find Ashley at the Carrboro Farmers Market, stargazing, playing with her girls Ava and Zoey, hiking, swimming, thrift shopping and gardening!
