Sandy Wagner PA-C is a member of the inpatient palliative care team. Sandy completed her bachelor of science degree in nursing in 1986 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She then went on to receive her certification as a physician assistant (PA-C) in 1990 at the UW-Madison. Sandy practiced as a PA in inpatient and outpatient cardiology for 4 years before transitioning to family medicine where she practiced for over 25 years. She developed an interest in palliative care later in her career as her patients started to age and began dealing with serious, life-limiting illness. Sandy obtained a certificate in palliative care through the University of Colorado-Denver in 2018 and joined the UNC hospital team in March of 2019. Clinical interests include working with patients in end-stage heart failure and early advanced care planning.
