Diya, originally from Ames, Iowa growing up in Greensboro, NC obtained her undergraduate degree at Columbia University in Biological Sciences before enrolling at the UNC School of Medicine. While at UNC, Diya has immersed herself in a variety of clinical, volunteer and service activities including membership in the Primary Care and Population Health Scholars Program. She has been working at the Student Health Alliance Coalition Clinic (SHAC), and being a part of the Honduran Health Alliance. As a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society, Diya truly enjoys writing creative non-fiction, gardening, backpacking, and reading novels.
