Sam is from the San Francisco Bay area and attended Columbia University where he majored in Biology. He spent several years as an actor during and after his undergraduate years. He is committed to increasing access to health care, having created a free ophthalmology clinic for Spanish speaking patients. In medical school, Sam was a fellow for the third-year Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship, acting as a peer mentor, leading clinical skills sessions, and serving as a liaison to Clerkship directors. He was inducted into the AOA and Gold Humanism honor societies in recognition of his outstanding achievements.

Fun Facts: He enjoys attending theater, dance performances, and tap dance as well as the outdoors, cooking, and knitting!
