A recent event at North Carolina Central University brought students together for the Genetics-in-a-Day Careers Workshop, hosted by the UNC Program for Precision Medicine in Health
Care. The workshop focused on real-world applications of genetics and highlighted the impact of metabolic disorders across clinical care, research, and patient support.
The Muenzer MPS Research & Treatment Center was proud to be involved in this educational initiative.
- Dr. Kim Stephens delivered the keynote address, sharing insights on patient advocacy and the importance of amplifying patient voices in rare disease
- Lindsay Torrice led the Research session, providing an overview of careers and opportunities in scientific research
- Kristin Clinard participated in the Family Support session, highlighting the critical role of patient and family support in care delivery
The event provided students with the opportunity to engage directly with professionals across multiple disciplines, offering a deeper understanding of how genetics and genomics are applied in real-world settings.
Connecting students to both the science and the people behind this work remains an important part of advancing awareness, education, and future careers in rare disease and metabolic disorders.
