About

Mary Clay Federspiel was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia.  She attended the College of William and Mary for her undergraduate years during which time she enjoyed the historical atmosphere and singing in an acapella group.  She entered nursing school at UNC Chapel Hill knowing she wanted to work with children.  Since then, she has practiced in multiple pediatric specialties including neonatal, cardiology, neurology, and genetics.  Her research interests center upon the development of novel treatments for neurodevelopmental conditions, including Angelman syndrome and MPS.  When Mary Clay is not working, she enjoys reading mystery novels, art, and watching her three boys participate in sports and various other activities.
