All About Dr. Lau!

James is originally from Springfield, Virginia and attended Hampden-Sydney College, where he received a degree in Biology. When he wasn’t enjoying the glamorous night life Farmville (more like FarmVegas), Virginia had to offer, James spent much of his time conducting research in the life sciences and promoting scientific literacy at the local elementary and middle schools. After college, he worked as a medical scribe for a year before attending Eastern Virginia Medical School. As a medical student, he helped start the PM&R Interest Group, was involved in the student-run musculoskeletal clinic, and served as a leader in Beyond Clinic Walls, a service initiative devoted to increasing health literacy in the local geriatric population. James has interests in pain medicine, cancer rehabilitation, geriatric care, and all facets of clinical research devoted to function optimization. When not in the hospital, he is a parent to two ungrateful cats (Marla and Toulouse) and enjoys following mixed martial arts, trying to run, skateboarding, and pursuing his pipe dream of going professional in ping pong.
