All About Dr. Melson!
Michael is originally from Columbia, SC and attended the University of South Carolina where he graduated magna cum laude with leadership distinction in research. He then attended the Medical University of South Carolina for medical school, where he spent plenty of time at the beach when not on rotations or studying. In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with his girlfriend, playing disc golf, kayaking, fishing, biking, working out, and watching most sports. He is planning to complete a Sports Medicine fellowship following residency.

Favorite part of the program: Well-rounded nature and family feel.
Favorite parts of living in the Triangle: I’m still getting a feel for the area as we’ve only been here a few weeks, but I love the mix of rural and city life already. There are an abundance of outdoor activities around Chapel Hill with the benefits of larger cities (Durham/Raleigh) close by as well!
