Certified Mindfulness Instructor, Adjunct Professor

Kessonga is a trained mindfulness meditation instructor, and a Master’s trained clinical social worker. He holds a BA in Biology from North Carolina Central University and an MS in Acupuncture from The New York College of Health Professions.  He recently completed his Master’s Degree at the UNC School of Social Work.

Kessonga is particularly passionate about working with people who have experienced trauma, and enjoys working with people from all cultural, racial, and religious backgrounds.

His work experience makes him a natural choice to lead online courses with Zoom and similar platforms; he also instructs a telephone-based mindfulness course for the Program on Integrative Medicine’s NIH research project on a Telephone-Delivered Mindfulness Intervention for Rural, African American Families.
