From Disparities to Equity: Striving for More in our Treatments for Eating Disorders

Adopting a framework of equity is urgently needed to reduce disparities persistent in feeding and eating disorder (FED) treatment models. This framework must emphasize the exchange of knowledge between relevant stakeholders and implementation strategies to impact practice and embrace a systemic change in the FED field.

In this study, enlarged perivascular spaces at 24 months of age were associated with autism diagnosis, excessive cerebrospinal fluid volume, and later sleep problems. Findings suggest the glymphatic system may be dysregulated in infants who develop autism.

Katie serves as the medical director of our new UNC Intensive Outpatient Program. She is also a unit medical director at UNC Hospitals Youth Behavioral Health (YBH) in Butner. Katie loves working with children and families, and she is delighted to return to UNC as faculty.
