About

Anna Jockin is an Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator within CHAAMP at UNC-Chapel Hill, working on the Social Motivation Study with Dr. Andrea Pelletier-Baldelli and Dr. Adam Byrant Miller. She received her B.A. in Psychology and Cognitive Science, with a concentration in Neuroscience and a minor in Global Studies in Education, from the University of Virginia. As an undergraduate, Anna volunteered as a research assistant in the Brains, Emotions, and Adolescent Relationships Lab with Dr. Stefaine Sequeira and primarily contributed to the Youth Emotions Study, which explored how youth identify, understand, and experience emotions. She also worked on a project within YouthNex with Dr. Ashlee Sjogren which aimed to better understand equitable partnerships between local school districts and community-based organizations.

Anna’s primary research interests include understanding how adverse childhood experiences impact psychopathology in children and adolescents, particularly suicidal thoughts and behaviors. She hopes to develop culturally appropriate community-based interventions, especially within the school systems, for youth exposed to high levels of familial threat. She aims to pursue a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology.

In her free time, Anna enjoys long walks, spending time with loved ones, exploring new coffee shops, and journaling.
