About
Dr. Caruthers is a Psychologist in the TEACCH Autism Program and Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry. She is also Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
In her role at TEACCH, Dr. Caruthers completes diagnostic evaluations for autism spectrum disorder, consults with community agencies, and provides behavioral intervention services for challenging behavior and feeding concerns.
Dr. Caruthers’ research interests center on the intersection of race and disability in the autistic population. More specifically, Dr. Caruthers is interested in how autism presents in black girls and women as well as their experiences navigating diagnostic, educational, and treatment services.
