About

Ellen Ruebush is a clinical social worker and addiction specialist who is dedicated to helping patients and their families identify and build upon their strengths and develop skills to cope with stress.  She started working at UNC in 2018 as a Tobacco Treatment Specialist in the North Carolina Cancer Hospital and subsequently joined the Comprehensive Cancer Support Program in 2022. Prior to her time at UNC, Ellen worked in a community mental health clinic, providing psychotherapy in English and Spanish to individuals with mental health and substance use problems. She has received specialized training in trauma-informed therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and her interests include treating co-occurring disorders, serving Latino patients and families, and the practice of mindfulness.
