About
Dr. Wortmann is a clinical psychologist with Integrative Mental Health in the Veterans Health Administration (VA) and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry. She is also Adjoint Assistant Professor in the Practice of Integrative Chaplaincy at Vanderbilt Divinity School (VDS) and serves as instructor and consultant to chaplains in the Mental Health Integration for Chaplain Services (MHICS) intensive training program, which forms the core of the first three semesters of the Doctor of Ministry degree in Integrative Chaplaincy offered by VDS. She completed her undergraduate education at North Park University, graduate work at the University of Connecticut, clinical internship at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System, and postdoctoral training at the VA Boston Healthcare System. Her work focuses on the intersection of mental health and chaplaincy, with publications in the areas of moral injury, religion and spirituality, trauma, PTSD, suicidality, and addiction, as well as meaning making in the contexts of bereavement, serious illness, and young adult life transitions. Dr. Wortmann has additional expertise in measure development and psychometric evaluation and is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Healthcare Chaplaincy.
