About
Dr. Kelly Caravella earned her PhD in Clinical-Community Psychology at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Caravella completed her internship and clinical postdoctoral training at UNC at the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities, specializing in intellectual and developmental disabilities. She followed up her clinical postdoctoral training, as a postdoctoral fellow in the CIDD’s T32 Postdoctoral Research Training Program. Following three years as a T23 fellow, Dr. Caravella was selected as a scholar for the NC Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute (NC TraCS) K12 program. Dr. Caravella’s current work focuses on testing the effectiveness of a family navigation intervention in expediting access to autism-specific intervention for toddlers with a new diagnosis of ASD under the age of 4. Through this award, Dr. Caravella will receive additional focused training in community engaged research, implementation science, intervention study design and mixed-methods research. She aims to develop a program of research that improves functional outcomes for young children with neurodevelopmental disabilities.
