Dr. Grzadzinski is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry with an appointment at the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities. Her research examines the behavioral precursors to an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) diagnosis, changes in behaviors over time (e.g., treatment response), and the impact of child and family characteristics on child outcomes. A major focus of her work is to develop novel early interventions for infants and toddlers who are showing early signs of neurodevelopmental differences by understanding how child, family, and dyadic (e.g., parent-child) characteristics lead to varying outcomes. Dr. Grzadzinski also studies social communication skills and brain correlates in children with Down Syndrome (DS) and/or ASD. Her current work focuses on physiological reactivity as a predictor of functional and diagnostic outcomes in neurodevelopmental disorders including ASD and DS. Dr. Grzadzinski has active collaborations with researchers across disciplines and is engaged in the development of translational methodology that can facilitate cross-species scientific discoveries.
