About

Dr. Pretzel is a psychologist and Professor as well as the Director of Services and Psychology Section Head at the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities. Her particular area of focus is the assessment and development of intervention plans for infants and young children with or at risk for developmental disabilities, specifically those with visual impairment, autism, and low incidence and complex disorders. She is currently involved in a number of different projects, including an epidemiological study of children with and without autism, survey research assessing satisfaction with and access to services in NC for adults with intellectual and other disabilities, conducting best practice interdisciplinary AAC assessments, and training interdisciplinary autism and AAC assessment teams across the state.
