About

Dr. Hopkins isis an Assistant Associate Professor with UNC’s Center for Women’s Mood Disorders. Her current clinical focus includes on the treatment ofworking with women affected by mood symptoms (such as depression and anxiety) , particularly depression, anxiety, panic disorder, and OCD, associated with pregnancy/birth, infertility, and fetal/infant loss. Dr. Hopkins launched the nation’s first comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy program designed specifically for people in the perinatal period.  Additionally, she draws on her extensive training in trauma to provide therapies such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, and Cognitive Processing Therapy to help women recover from trauma and engage in lives of meaning and purpose. She is currently the Director of Psychotherapy Services within the Center for Women’s Mood Disorders.  

Dr. Hopkins’ research interests include clinical effectiveness and outcomes research, trauma recovery, and emotion dysregulation. Additionally, Dr. Hopkins is dedicated to teaching and clinical training. She has played a vital role providing supervision and mentorship to graduate students, psychology interns, postdoctoral fellows, and medical residents. She has also taken on leadership roles within UNC’s psychology internship program, serving as program coordinator in the reproductive psychology track.
