The event features games, carnival activities and food, and is a chance for children who have had heart surgery at N.C. Children’s Hospital to come back to visit with medical staff and other patients and their families. This year’s reunion was held at the Trinity School in Durham.

Physicians, nurses and other medical staff who cared for the children in the hospital were delighted to see them running and playing at the reunion.

“This is very, very rewarding, very fulfilling, ” Michael R. Mill, MD, UNC pediatric cardiac surgeon, told the Durham Herald-Sun. “It’s great to see them in an active environment, outside the hospital environment.”
