March 19, 2012 — Anthony A. Meyer, MD, PhD, Chair of the Department of Surgery, was inducted into the Order of the Golden Fleece at the Order’s Public Tapping Ceremony this past Friday.
Founded in 1904 to unite student leaders at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in order to bring about the swift resolution of University problems and to better campus life, today the Order now stands as the oldest and highest honorary society at the University.
Dr. Meyer was selected for induction by the Order for his steadfast dedication to increasing minority and female representation in the field of medicine and his passion for medical education and training.
The Order’s Public Tapping Ceremony took place this past Friday, March 16, in Gerrard Hall.
