Abstract title: Multi-Drug Resistance Colonization is Associated with Increased Mortality after Burn Injury in Sub-Saharan Africa

Dr Gallaher is a fourth year general surgery resident at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Raised in Kentucky, he attended Wheaton College and Wake Forest School of Medicine. He recently completed a 2-year research fellowship with the Malawi Surgical Initiative, spending 1 year living in Lilongwe, Malawi under the supervision of Dr Anthony Charles. His research focuses on trauma, burn, and emergency general surgery care in developing countries, especially in sub- Saharan Africa. Dr Gallaher plans to pursue academic global surgery after completing a fellowship in acute care surgery.
