September 2, 2010 — I just wanted to thank ALL of the OR staff who worked so hard to make the two laser days, on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, so very successful.

We did thirty (30!!!) cases –adult and children, burn and non-burn, recon and cosmetic–in the annex.

I felt that this was important to let everyone know that with some careful planning, teamwork, and continuous quality improvement, such efficiency is not only possbile, but a lot of fun for all involved. I can’t tell everyone how much I appreciate the hard work of the CRNAs, the circulating nurses, and the scrub nurses.

Now that we have figured out how to do this, we do need to make a change. We hope to transition a major portion of this practice to the ACC, starting in late September. We will encounter another learning curve–no doubt–but I have every confidence that this practice will be just as successful there, as at the Main and W/C.
