About

What were you looking for in a residency program?

There were so many things to consider when applying to residency, but the most important factors for me were operative experience, program culture and program opportunities. I wanted a program with a caring, supportive resident cohort and training environment, that was operatively busy and encouraged residents to pursue a wide variety of research/professional development opportunities.

What inspired you to become a doctor/surgeon?

I shadowed a family physician when I was in high school who did a lot of work in occupational health, and the way they were able to bring both medical care but hope and even happiness to patients was inspiring. My path to surgery began late in my medical school career, as I came to realize that I loved the operating room and the opportunity to change a patient’s health directly with an intervention. I couldn’t give it up, and here I am!
