We are delighted to announce that Dr. Hersh Trivedi, a Second Year Resident in the UNC Urology residency program, was honored with the “NC Jaycee Burn Center Intern Award” by the Department of Surgery this past July. This recognition is a testament to his exceptional performance during his Intern rotation on the burn service.
Beyond showcasing Dr. Trivedi’s excellence, this award also sheds light on the collaborative and multidisciplinary environment fostered within the UNC Urology program. Interns in the residency program undergo six distinct Surgery rotations in their first year, encompassing Trauma, General Surgery, Burn ICU, Pediatric Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and Surgical Intensive Care.
We wholeheartedly congratulate Dr. Trivedi on this well-deserved honor.
“I am absolutely overjoyed and honored to have received such a wonderful and prestigious award, especially knowing how incredible all the people I worked with are. The unit is arranged in such a way as to allow us to really push ourselves and learn the intricate details of intensive care in a supportive and collegial environment. The people that work in the unit are truly special. The true strengths of interdisciplinary teams are highlighted in the BICU with the interplay between pharmacy, nutrition, respiratory therapy, physical and occupational therapy, and consulting services on display. Clearly, with the number of awards that the incredible APPs have won, they demonstrate competent, compassionate, and thorough care all while managing to value our presence. I left the BICU a better doctor in every way than when I entered.”
