Each year, the UNC School of Medicine Standing Committees’ election process offers faculty the opportunity to participate in medical school governance by serving on a committee as a faculty representative or by voting for their peers.

This year, UNC Urology’s Drs. Kristy Borawski and Angela Smith were both elected to join Standing Committees.

Fixed Term Promotions Committee

About the Fixed Term Promotions Committee

The committee consists of twelve full-time faculty who meet regularly and primarily review the promotions of Fixed Term Faculty in the School of Medicine to both Associate Professor and Full Professor.

About the Promotions to Associate Professor Committee

The Committee consists of nine full-time, tenured faculty members who serve as voting members. The Committee meets regularly and primarily reviews Initial appointments, reappointments, and promotions of Assistant Professors to Associate Professors (conferring tenure).

UNC School of Medicine Standing Committees

The Standing Committees of the School of Medicine assist and advise the Dean in the areas of education, research, health care, and administration.
