We are delighted to announce that Drs. Katherine Chan and Angela Smith, faculty members within the Department of Urology, have recently completed the intensive Level 2 Coach Training program offered by the UNC School of Medicine’s Coaching Academy, in collaboration with Pyramid Resource Group’s Healthcare Coaching Institute (HCI)

This program is a customized course for healthcare leaders, and is accredited by both the International Coach Federation (ICF) and Human Resource Capital Institute (HRCI). The program helps to further equip UNC Faculty with the skills necessary to apply for the Professional Credentialed Coach (PCC) Level with the ICF.

The Level 2 training combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience and peer coaching. Topics covered included Coaching Ethics, Establishing Agreements, Coaching in Healthcare, Mindfulness, Cultivating Awareness and Courage, Organizational Systems, Archetypes, and Coaching the leader in transition. Participants not only engage in buddy coaching within the cohort but also get the opportunity to coach current healthcare leaders from other institutions.

As two of the six UNC faculty members who have recently completed the Level 2 program, Drs. Chan and Smith, along with their peers, will serve as internal peer coaches within the UNC School of Medicine.
