New Bern 2024
The UNC Men’s Health Program is excited to host another “Men, Know Your Numbers” screening event for the New Bern Community. These events are open to all and aims to raise awareness and screen men for their most common causes of illness.
Our distinguished panel of speakers includes talks with prostate cancer survivor and community advocate Victor Taylor, local legend Phil Ford of basketball fame and as well as an informational discussion with UNC Urologist Dr. Eric Wallen.
One of our supporters, LabCorp, will be onsite, offering men free blood draws to assess essential health metrics such as prostate-specific antigen (PSA), the blood sugar test Hemoglobin A1C, and cholesterol levels.
The Prostate Health Education Network (PHEN) will also be participating – providing educational material to all those in attendance.
We are grateful to our community partners: The Duke Cancer Institute Office of Health Equity.

Eric Wallen, MD, @UNCurology oncologist, says early detection is vital to improve survival rates! “We’re trying to raise awareness and bring people to action to bend the arc of #prostate #cancer because, if we hit it early, we can cure it,” he says.https://t.co/0ypOqJHwJ1
