Loyalty Fund Scholarships
The Lucius Blanchard Carolina Family Loyalty Fund Scholarships & Loans
Scholarships are awarded to outstanding first-year medical students to the UNC School of Medicine. Recommendations originate from the Admissions Office. The recipients of these awards demonstrate impressive academic and extracurricular achievements. The scholarship covers the cost of in-state tuition and offers a Carolina Family Loyalty Fund Loan Endowment award that will provide scholars with an interest-free loan of a $20,000 each per year. Recipients will have up to 10 years after graduation to repay their interest-free loans. A yearly enrichment fund used to enhance their educational experience is also available.

One-Time Scholarships for Matriculated Students
Matriculated students are encouraged to apply for a one-year Medical Alumni Loyalty Fund Scholarship for the upcoming academic year. A committee comprised of representatives from the offices of Student Affairs, Financial Services, Admissions, Alumni Affairs and the Medical Foundation review, rank and select recipients. Criteria for selection include academic achievement, leadership qualities, demonstrated financial need and commitment to service. Consideration for career choices (Primary Care) is given to those students entering their fourth year.
