Residency Message from the Chair

Cristy Page Chair

As the Chair of the University of North Carolina Department of Family Medicine, I take pride in the excellence of our residency program, faculty, staff, and, learners.  Having attended the University of Chapel Hill for my undergraduate and public health degrees, medical school, and residency, I can attest to the strength and quality of our programs.

The healthcare system is currently in a period of rapid change and redesign.  At UNC, we lead this change, both regionally and nationally.  We provide innovative, comprehensive, high quality, and, cost effective healthcare that is family oriented and community focused. We aim to discover and communicate knowledge that is central to clinical practice and healthcare system organization.  We support the health needs of the community that surrounds us, as well as engage in collaborative efforts with other programs and specialties in the area and across the country.  I am proud that we see ourselves as innovators in clinical care, community health, and academic education.

Training the next generation of Family Medicine physicians is imperative to this mission.  Our focus on full scope training ensures our graduates leave prepared for the challenges of patient care today.  We strive to provide our learners with an engaging training experience and the tools to succeed after graduation.

As an institution, we are committed to diversity and inclusion.   We celebrate and welcome individuals of any race, gender, background, religion, and sexual orientation.  We strongly believe that an inclusive and open-minded environment is a necessity for learning and personal growth.

I thank you for your interest in our program, and encourage you to consider all the ways that UNC Family Medicine can help you achieve your personal and professional goals.
