Spotlight on Cumberland County Schools!

The OT team from Cumberland County Schools joined forces, reached into their hearts,

and began an amazing adventure that resulted in a fun and interactive Telehealth program for the students they serve.
This team developed a virtual curriculum of therapeutic activities with modifications, adaptations and differentiated implementation suggestions to make the activities accessible and teachable for the wide variety of clientele served from pre-k to 12th grade levels. Google classrooms were set up and every student receiving OT services was assigned to a classroom where they can access an abundance of activities and information. Students are also able to join a weekly live session where they can participate in planned activities and interact with their therapist and peers. Setting this up and contacting students was challenging but this team rose to the challenge. The team utilized several methods to contact students and families and make them aware of the virtual services available. One of the favored methods was the introductory video made by team members Jasmine Girroir and Desiree Sarchet that included an original cover of a popular song done by lead therapist Tammy Linnen. The students have been enjoying the activities and time with their peers and therapists. During these unprecedented times of uncertainty and social distancing, the OT team in Cumberland County has definitely hit the mark with the hard work and creativity they are using to provide OT in the virtual world.
