Will food and beverages be provided?
A buffet breakfast will be served each morning from 6:45 – 8:30am. Beverages will be available during lectures.

Where is the conference center and is there nearby parking?
The West Beach Conference Center is located at 2 Shipwatch Rd, Kiawah Island, SC 29455 (map). Parking is available at the lot in the rear of the building, the garage under it and the pool parking lot adjacent from it.

How do I book my stay at Kiawah Island Golf Resort? Can I book online?
A Kiawah Resort representative will book your stay. It is recommended that you use this link to request booking service, and the resort will contact you directly. You can also call (800) 654-2924. Currently there is not an online-only booking option.

Does the Carolina Refresher Course provide accredited CME?

When will I receive my CME credit?
You will receive documentation within 2 weeks of completing the course. CRNA’s will receive a digital certificate they will need to submit to the ANAA to secure credit. Physicians will receive a link from the UNC School of Medicine CME office with a transcript of your credits.

Physicians please note: Quality Improvement credits are reported to the ABA on your behalf, but Patient Safety Credits are self-reported. Please see instructions here: www.theaba.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/MOCA_Report_CME_Instructions.pdf.

Which lectures and workshops qualify for Type II MOCA Patient Safety Credits, and which qualify for Type IV MOCA Quality Improvement Credits?

Who can help me with resort accommodations, transportation and other amenities?
For questions related to booking and resort amenities, please contact resort customer service at (800) 654-2924 and mention the group booking number of 335 or visit the Kiawah Island Golf Resort website here. Deadline for making reservations is May 17, 2026, or until the room block is fully committed. Reservations received after this date will only be filled on a space-and-rate available basis.

Do I have to attend all lectures/days to receive credit?
You will receive credit for attending any lectures and completing the respective evaluations for the lectures you attend.

Will lecture materials be available before and after the conference?
Yes. A link to PDFs of lecture materials will be available for download beginning on the day of the lecture and kept available for at least one year.

How do I sign up for the daily workshops & PBLDs?
To better gauge demand and allow for more access to workshops, all registered attendees will receive an email with details regarding workshop registration in May. Some workshops may have added capacity during the course. Please see CRC customer service at the check-in desk to inquire about joining a workshop.

Is this course designed for CRNA’s and CAA’s as well as physicians, fellows and residents?
Yes. The course is designed for physicians, including but not limited to anesthesiologists, critical care specialists, pain specialists, surgeons, and internists, as well as certified registered nurse anesthetists, anesthesiology resident and fellow physicians, certified anesthesiologist assistants, and allied services practitioners.

Is there a discount for UNC resident, fellow and faculty alumni?

I have registered but cannot attend. Can I get a refund?
To receive a full refund, you must email your request to crc@med.unc.edu before June 10th, 2026.

Statement of Need
Anesthesiology, Pain, and Critical Care Medicine are medical disciplines uniquely characterized by an exponentially expanding base of peer reviewed literature, evolving technology, and new techniques combined with ever increasing clinical realms of practice in which this novel information is relevant. The Carolina Refresher Course seeks to present a portion of this material in a format that emphasizes utility, practicality, and retention so that the content learned may be easily and effectively applied in the improvement of patient safety, comfort, and satisfaction.
